Suzannah Espie is a national treasure and in late 2012 she released an incredible album titled 'Sea Of Lights' which many critics rated the album of the year.
Recorded to four-track tape in Jeff Lang’s shed, the musician's which included Liz Stringer and Chris Altmann, sat around in a circle in sweltering summer heat and recorded ten gems in three days....Oh, and Espie happened to be seven months pregnant at the time!
In the wake of this extraordinary album Suzannah was awarded the prestigious Artist Of The Year accolade at the Port Fairy Music Festival in 2013.
The songs from this record have stood the test of time and Suzannah is delighted that Cheer Squad records have chosen to celebrate its 13th anniversary by re releasing it on vinyl.
Espie’s sound is an intoxicating mix of country, folk, blues, and soul. A gentle, sweet trill that can move grown men to tears one moment, or an Aretha-esque hellcat belt that can raise the roof the next; however she sings it though, it’s still unmistakeably Suzannah Espie
"There aren't too many songwriters able to match meaning with melody as well as Suzannah Espie - "Charles Jenkins
