“Delectably twisted, love how this looms in the darkness and refuses to come out. Sonically dazzling.” – Nkechi Anele- Triple J.
Nick Carver injects as much truth and soul into his singing, songwriting, and guitar playing as possible. Anything that ends up in a Mean St Butchers song is there because he loves it. This authentic energy has been picked up by others, leading the band to play festivals such as NYE on the Hill, and support Canadian rockers The Tea Party on their 2019 tour of Australia. As he cruises the hills of Gippsland with the sounds of Neil Young, Kyuss and Nick Cave blaring from his car stereo, you can tell Nick’s musically obsessed. With his band of butchers from Melbourne (Alex Burkoy, Jake Amy, Chris Doig), his sound is best described as a swampy mix of alt-country and desert rock.
