Producing a dozen records over the years, most for Dead Reckoning Records, the label he co- founded in Nashville in the mid 90s, Welch’s music has carried him around the planet, earning him deep respect in the musical community and fans from every walk of life, including the former president of the United States, Barack Obama.
Released at the end of 2017 was a retrospective, titled Kevin Welch: The Dead Reckoning Years, a double LP celebrating his music between 1995- 2005. Almost eight years since the release of his last album, A Patch of Blue Sky (2010), Welch assembled some of the world’s finest musicians and returned to the studio in Nashville to make a new record, Dust Devil. Released in 2018, critics called it some of his best work to date.
Kevin currently lives on the south coast of New South Wales with his beautiful wife, a houseful of kids and a pup, writing songs and pining for Tex-Mex food.
2021 CMAA ‘Golden Guitar’, Australian Folk Music and Music Victoria award winners, The Weeping Willows will open the show, launching their brand new album, You Reap What You Sow. Willows Andrew Wrigglesworth and Laura Coates are a couple of old souls, steeped in Bluegrass tradition and draped in Gothic Americana imagery. They regale their audiences with stories of sunshine and romance, God and The Devil, murder and decay. A Weeping Willows performance, whether live on location or caught on tape will always delight.
